冲压弹簧触点的电镀:金、锡和镍

金、锡和镍实际上起什么作用?

金是贵金属。它不会形成电阻性氧化层,因此可以在多次插拔循环后可靠地传输低电流信号。它很软,这使接触电阻保持较低,但同样的柔软性意味着在高力和长擦拭下会磨损。

锡便宜且易于焊接,但会在数小时内形成坚硬的氧化层。只有通过牢固的擦拭才能突破该氧化层,这就是为什么锡适合在较高力下插拔一次或几次的触点。锡还容易在微动下发生冷焊和微动腐蚀。

镍是阻挡层。直接沉积在铜合金上,它可以阻止基底金属原子扩散到上面的金中,并在温度下保持连接稳定。当镍作为最终表面暴露时,它是一种抗氧化但电阻较高的触点;它很少是信号接口的首选。

模式很重要:金几乎总是镀在镍上,而不是直接镀在铜上。没有镍阻挡层的金层在高温下会更快失效,因为基底金属原子会迁移到金中并增加电阻。

触点镀层应该多厚?

厚度是成本与寿命的权衡。薄镀层更便宜,足以用于温和、低循环的使用;厚镀层能承受更多插拔循环和更严苛的擦拭,但成本更高,并可能在边缘产生应力。

孔隙率是隐藏的变量。薄金层有微小的孔隙,基底金属通过这些孔隙腐蚀,腐蚀产物会在表面蔓延。更厚的金和良好的镍底层可以封闭这些孔隙。这就是为什么没有厚度数字的“镀金”不是规格。

当触点承受高力和长擦拭时,锡在力下的柔软性可能会涂抹并产生碎屑,因此镍上镀金或银可能更合适。当触点只插拔一次时,花钱镀金通常是浪费。将镀层与工作相匹配,而不是与习惯相匹配。

电镀如何影响接触力和磨损?

电镀改变了界面的摩擦和磨损行为,这反过来影响你需要的力和擦拭。金层具有润滑性,在轻力下磨损缓慢,因此低力即可。锡更粗糙;牢固的擦拭可以刮掉氧化层,但也会去除材料,因此擦拭必须足以清洁而不会切穿到基底金属。
