冲突在于:硬质材料耐磨但也抗弯曲——它们会在槽根处开裂而不是弯曲。软质材料弯曲性好但磨损快,在反复载荷下会产生永久变形。热处理找到中间点。硬度为44–48 HRC的弹簧钢夹头通过其槽几何形状弯曲而不会开裂,并且在大多数棒料上仍具有可接受的耐磨性。在重开槽夹头中,硬度远超过52 HRC,你就会开始用疲劳寿命换取耐磨寿命。

内孔光洁度也与材料相互作用。44 HRC弹簧钢的磨削内孔提供出色的同心度但耐磨性中等;60 HRC轴承钢的相同内孔保持尺寸的时间要长得多。如果你的棒料是冷拔、有氧化皮或镀层的——这些磨蚀物会侵蚀夹头——更硬或涂层的内孔会物有所值。如果你的棒料是精密磨削且干净的,弹簧回火加上精细磨削内孔是经济标准。
