铝散热器与铜散热器:导热、重量与成本权衡

铜的导热性大约是铝的两倍——常见散热器合金的导热系数约为385-400 W/m·K,而铝为160-200 W/m·K——但铜的单位体积重量是铝的3.3倍,相同零件几何形状的成本约为铝的10倍。因此,纯铜散热器是特例而非惯例,大多数情况下,最明智的设计是铝制鳍片块,仅在热量最集中的地方使用铜。

铜何时物有所值

铜在以下三种情况下具有优势。首先,小面积热源产生高热通量:一个300W的IGBT或激光二极管在30毫米的封装面积上集中了如此多的瓦特每平方厘米,以至于热扩散阻力占主导地位——铜基底将热量横向扩散的速度远快于铝。其次,空间受限的设计,散热器无法增大:当两个维度都无法改变时,提高导热性的价值大于增加表面积。第三,对重量容忍度高的工业设备,散热器兼作母排或结构导体。在这三种情况下,使用铜正是因为其他材料无法满足封装要求。
