冲压模具涂层:TiN、CrN 及何时回本

涂层系列:TiN、CrN 及其他

涂层选择与之前决策中的模具钢选择逻辑一致:匹配失效模式,而不是营销手册。如果模具在崩刃,没有涂层能解决韧性不足的问题——那是钢材或设计问题。如果模具在铝材上咬合,CrN 比更硬的涂层是更好的答案。如果刃口只是在磨料带材上变圆,TiCN 或 AlTiN 值得其溢价。而目录中最好的涂层也无法挽救间隙错误、导向薄弱或润滑剂不再匹配工艺的模具——涂层延长良好的设置;它们不能替代设置。

涂层在哪里回本——以及在哪里不回本

每次涂层应用都需要花钱,通常每个冲头或凹模镶件根据尺寸从几十到几百美元不等,并且每次修磨后必须重新涂覆,因为磨削会去除薄膜。因此回本问题是算术问题:当修磨之间增加的冲次、减少的停机时间、降低的润滑剂成本或减少的废品超过涂层和重新涂层的账单时,涂层就回本。在小批量、廉价低碳钢冲裁(D2 已经足够耐用)以及模具在第一次修磨前就退役的工况中,算术上不划算。

最明显的回本信号是停机成本。在运行数百万零件的级进模中,每次修磨都意味着拆卸模具、磨削、重新设置和重新验证——数小时的生产损失加上风险。即使涂层本身每个冲头看起来昂贵,将修磨间隔加倍也值真金白银。这就是为什么大批量级进模工作——端子、引线框架、触点——是涂层模具的天然归宿,也是为什么小批量工作不应承担涂层溢价。

涂层质量、重新涂层和维护循环

并非所有涂层都相同。PVD 质量取决于表面准备、涂层温度和涂层厂家的过程控制。好的涂层始于抛光的模具表面——在粗糙的 EDM 表面上涂层会得到粗糙、结合力弱的薄膜——并且需要下方清洁、正确热处理的钢材,因为在几百度温度下涂层可能会软化回火不当的模具。在涂层模具之前,确认基体硬度是考虑到涂层温度而设定的,否则薄膜将附着在失去回火的模具上。

维护循环与首次应用同样重要。当涂层模具被修磨时,刃口处的涂层消失,必须重新涂覆;只修磨而不重新涂层的车间会慢慢失去他们付费获得的好处。有纪律的计划将涂层视为换油:拆卸、修磨、重新涂层、重新验证,按文档化计划进行。另一种做法——涂层一次然后希望——就是为什么一些采购人员得出结论涂层不起作用。它们确实起作用,但只是作为维护系统的一部分,正如模具维护是一项计划性纪律,而不是对故障的反应。
