级进模最适合大批量零件(超过50,000件)、材料厚度小于3.0毫米的小型到中型零件。传递模则更适合大型零件(超过200毫米)或厚度超过3.0毫米的材料,此时板材需要在工位之间移动。对于铝和黄铜,级进模具有成本效益,因为这些材料相比钢可减少40%的模具磨损。对于不锈钢,传递模可以更好地管理热量并减少加工硬化问题。一个10毫米连接器的级进模成本为12,000-18,000美元,而一个200毫米支架的传递模成本为25,000-40,000美元。
