钝化化学原理与铬氧化物层

钝化的基本机制是控制表面铁的溶解,同时保留铬。当不锈钢被加工时,切削过程可能会嵌入来自刀具的游离铁颗粒,或在表面暴露出富铁夹杂物。这些铁颗粒会成为腐蚀、锈斑渗出和点蚀的起始点。

钝化浴通常使用硝酸或柠檬酸,可溶解这些嵌入的铁颗粒。合金中的铬含量(按重量计最低10.5%)随后与氧气反应,形成一层致密、自修复的铬氧化物(Cr2O3)层,厚度为1至3纳米。这层钝化膜正是不锈钢耐腐蚀性的来源。如果没有正确钝化,即使是316L不锈钢,在潮湿环境中也可能在数周内出现锈斑。

工艺温度和酸浓度直接控制蚀刻速率。对于硝酸浴,温度范围为49°C至60°C(120°F至140°F),浓度按体积计为20%至50%。柠檬酸浴在较低温度下运行,即40°C至70°C(104°F至158°F),但需要更长的浸泡时间,通常为20至40分钟,而硝酸浴为15至30分钟。

ASTM A967列出了五种硝酸方法(1至5)和两种柠檬酸方法(6和7)。对于CNC加工零件,最常用的是硝酸1法:按体积计20-25%的硝酸,2.5%的重铬酸钠,在49-60°C下至少浸泡20分钟。AMS 2700根据合金类别进行区分,并要求更严格的测试,包括针对某些类别按照ASTM B117进行的盐雾测试。

材料牌号选择与钝化响应

并非所有不锈钢牌号都能同等程度地钝化。合金成分,特别是铬、镍和钼的含量,决定了钝化层的质量。马氏体牌号如410和420可硬化,但铬含量较低,钝化响应不佳。它们可能需要采用特殊工艺,缩短浸泡时间以防止过度蚀刻。

奥氏体牌号304和316是最常用于钝化的。304牌号(18%铬,8%镍)适用于一般应用,而316(16%铬,10%镍,2%钼)提供优异的抗点蚀性能,尤其是在氯化物环境中。316中的钼增强了钝化膜的稳定性,使其成为海洋和化工处理部件的首选。

标准生产批次(包括清洗、钝化、漂洗和干燥)的钝化交货时间为24至48小时。根据ASTM A967进行测试会增加24小时的湿度或盐雾验证时间。仅钝化的紧急加急服务可在4至6小时内完成,但可能需要最低批次费用150至300美元。

钝化不足是由于酸浴前清洗不充分造成的。残留的油或油脂阻碍酸液接触表面,使游离铁留在原位。解决方案是进行适当的碱性清洗步骤,然后进行水膜破裂测试。清洁的表面应具有连续的水膜,不会聚集成珠。

闪锈表现为钝化后不久表面出现一层浅橙色薄膜。这发生在零件未彻底漂洗或干燥步骤延迟时。在60°C的去离子水中进行最终漂洗并立即用热风干燥可防止这种情况。对于关键零件,使用手持式铁氰化钾测试套件进行最终钝化验证可提供即时确认。

工程图纸规格清单

当您在图纸或采购订单上指定钝化时,请包含以下最低限度的信息,以避免歧义和返工。首先,注明适用的标准:ASTM A967或AMS 2700,包括具体方法(例如,ASTM A967硝酸1法)。其次,指明所需的验收测试:湿度测试、盐雾或硫酸铜测试。第三,定义钝化前的表面光洁度要求。第四,指定任何遮蔽要求,例如螺纹、压配合孔或电接触表面必须保持未钝化状态。

如果您的零件将在60°C以上或富含氯化物的环境中使用,请指定高钼牌号如316L或904L。仅靠钝化无法克服错误的材料选择。钝化层在200°C以上会退化,对于300°C以上的高温应用,请考虑使用陶瓷涂层或热扩散处理。
